My Make Up For My Big Night Out

OK first I’d like to talk about ‘my big night out’ if I may? As you may or may not know I am Mummy to 23 month old twin boys and like a lot of Mums I don’t get out that much. Its Twin Daddy’s birthday today so my Mum and sister babysat for us last night so we could go out for dinner. Its the first time we have been out on a date since January when I had my first night away from the boys and we went to Nobu just off Park Lane in London. Last night we went to Roka in Canary Wharf its not our first time here but we love it so we chose it for our ‘big night out’.

Skincare

If I am wearing foundation I always use Creme De La Mer underneath, it is the only moisturiser that lets the make up glide on and leaves my skin feeling comfortable no matter how long I have the make up on for. I always use a Hyaluronic Serum under the La Mer also, a lot of the time I use Estee Lauder ANR but I gave Indeed Labs Hydraluron a try under my make up this time. I still think I prefer the texture of ANR it seems to sink in better on my skin while the Hydraluron sits on top and almost feels like a mask until you apply the moisturiser and then they melt together… am I the only one who gets that?

All about the base

I currently only own one foundation. I know shocking!! I chose the Intensive Skin Serum foundation by Bobbi Brown a very long time ago now and there is only a little bit left. I chose it because I liked the word serum in the name and also I like the choice of shades available from Bobbi Brown, Cool Sand 2.25 matches my skin tone perfectly. The fact it has SPF 40 is a bonus but I personally never wear foundation in the day so didn’t sway my purchase. If you have oily skin I would probably avoid though as it leaves your skin very glowing and could possibly be too ‘glowy’ for oily skin types. I love how this looks on my skin. I’m more of a no make up, make up type of girl so I prefer my foundation to look like I’m not wearing foundation and I think this does that. I would love some recommendations on new foundations though as when this runs out I can’t decide whether to repurchase or try something new… Benefits’ High Beam is my favourite highlighter. Like the foundation I love the fact is has no glitter particles so once its blended it looks like you are glowing from the inside. I put it under eyebrows, corners of my eyes, cheekbones, tip of my nose, Β on my cupids bow, and a little vertical line in the middle of my chin.

Old faithfuls

So once my base is on I use YSL Touche Eclat under my eyes and round my nose. I have used other under eye highlighter/concealers but I always go back to YSL. Next I fill in my eyebrows using the Bobbi Brown Brow Kit in Saddle/Mahogany. My eyebrows are not my best feature due to over plucking when I was younger, I am seriously considering Microblading but I need to pluck up the courage first (see what I did there?!). Before I apply eye shadow I use Hoola Bronzer by Benefit to contour my cheek bones and a little on my nose. Then on my eyes I have used the same three colours by Mac for YEARS, the colours make my blue eyes pop. They are Retro Speck for the inner eyelid, Tempting for the outer eye and I use Amber Lights right in the centre of my eyelid. I then use the same three colours in the same order as on my upper lid along my lower lash line. I am really liking at the moment YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils in High Density Black, I use quite a lot to really open up my eyes. I use my fingers to apply LauraMercier Creme Cheek Colour in Rosebud, its a pretty easy to apply cream blusher.

The last thing to apply before I leave the house is Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk Lip Liner and her Penelope Pink lipstick. I’m really excited to try the Pillow Talk lipstick but I haven’t got round to buying it yet.

Thank you so much for reading!
