When I started this blog I was truly obsessed with skincare. I have noticed recently that my obsession has really quietened down. In fact I barely think about skincare at all. I used to watch you tube videos and scroll through Instagram looking at make up artists and skincare influencers. I would then buy everything I could get my hands on and use it for a week or two before it either did nothing or broke me out in spots.
Nowadays I use pretty much the same skincare every morning and night. In the mornings I am using Kate Somerville Goat Milk cleanser, Skinceuticals CE Ferulic Vitamin C serum, Garnier Hyaluronic Acid serum, Dr Sam Flawless Moisturiser and La Roche Posay Hydrating SPF 50.
In the evening I use Dr Sam Flawless Cleanser, Dr Sam Nightly Pro retinol serum and Dr Sam Moisturiser Intense.
I did buy a product the other day that I used to use a lot and had forgotten all about… Alpha H Liquid Gold. It is like a toner you sweep over on cotton wool after you cleanse. It is glycolic acid so exfoliates your skin leaving you more glowy. So I have added this into my routine but where I would used to make a note of when I use it and be really strict about what day to use it again (you can’t use it everyday) now I just randomly use it when I feel like my skin looks like it needs a bit of a freshen up. You don’t have to moisturise after so it is useful on evenings when I’m feel lazy and just want to wash, wipe that over and jump into bed!
I do have Botox quite regularly now so maybe that has contributed to my lack of interest in products. As when you do have Botox your skin tends to look smoother and fresher anyway and I guess has made me feel like rubbing and patting expensive creams and serums onto my skin don’t have as much impact as injecting something directly into it.
My bank balance doesn’t miss my skincare addiction but actually I feel abit nostalgic about those days when I used to believe that that Medik8 retinol would make me look younger or those Dr Dennis Gross pads would give me plumper skin…. Skincare is self care after all and maybe I would benefit from a little more of that!
